Psoriasis is a chronic, noncontagious, inflammatory disease of the immune system with predominantly skin and joint involvement. There are various forms of psoriasis, and the common subtypes of psoriasis are plaque, inverse, erythrodermic, pustular, and guttate. The exact cause of psoriasis is unknown, but it is thought to be caused by errors in how the immune system functions.
