Facial Rashes

A skin rash or lesions localizing to the face is common. The differential diagnosis of a facial rash is broad and is impacted by age of the patient, time line of the disease process, associated findings, and, as with all skin diagnosis, the morphology of the rash is key. Common problems include acne, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis. Less common but serious diagnoses include systemic lupus erythematosus, sarcoidosis, and zoster.
