eczema I am in pain

in

I am new to this site. I have eczema really bad this time. I am having a hard time to get rid of it. I have tried the Rx does not work..I have been applying vaseline..clears up in a few days, yet comes back.

I even went and bought dermarest for eczema medicated moisturizer for sensititive skin also has super moisturtizing zinc complex.

Yes it has relieved the itching..I am getting more dryer and my right hand middle finger and ring finger looks like someone has beat my hands. They are cracking and peeling,,itch like you would not believe. I have to keep my right fingers cupped together b/c if I stretch them out it hurts!!

My left hand around the wrist has a huge blot of eczema and it is finally adapting to the new dermarest, yet it is still hurting.

Anyone have suggestions? The dermatologist has given up on me nothing is working....I am in pain.

I take valium at night or bendryl so I do not itch my hands or fingers at night. I am swollen...I am a diabetic and do take my meds. Just every winter this happens and seems to be worse this year.

I use senstive soap to bath in..I even use double gloves when I shower so the water does not get on my hands. It feels like someone is cutting my fingers off when I am in the shower...

thanks if anyone can give me some help on this.

Hi loriisinpain. I know exactly how you feel. I have very bad eczema and it seems to really be acting up this winter. Like you, I take a benedryl before bed because the itch is unbearable keeps me up at night. Also, the dishes in my sink always pile up becuase it is so painful to have my hands in soapy water for too long. I too feel like the dermatologist has given up on me. I feel as though if I'm not coming in for botox or something comestic (that makes them a lot of money) they don't really care about me. Like you I need some suggestions too! Help!

lorriisinpain: I know your pain as I have suffered for many years. My eczema is on both of my feet and I have recently been treating my feet with local honey and cinnamon with great results. I mix equal parts of local honey and ground cinnamon and smear the paste on my feet....then, I wrap my feet in saran wrap and wear socks. I usually do this at night and sleep with this treatment and when I wake up, I rinse the honey and cinnamon and my feet look great. I then apply organic coconut oil because the coconut oil absorbs and is not greasy. After trying many things over the years, (including prescriptions) I have found this to be the best. Good luck, I hope this works! MeMe

Hi lorriisinpain...just discovered this website. I am a fellow eczema suffer and can so relate. Eczema is truly a curse....because its causes are often so mysterious. Mine has migrated to various parts of my body over my life...my hands were once as you describe yours..and the dermatologists seem to have little to offer except cortisone which doesn't help all that much. My eczema has now left my hands and has moved to my face...I have been to the allergist for testing(for the second or third time in my life) and I am so done with that. I learned this time I am apparently allergic to many chemicals whose names I cannot pronounce ...in the fragrance and formaldahyde categories and have been told to avoid all such chemicals and their derivatives...GREAT because they are ubiquitous in modern life. I no longer wear any makeup, my shampoo is ridiculously pure and expensive, I use only glycerin soap. And my skin seems to move in cycles which are unrelated to anything I am doing. Have also been told I am touching something that is bringing on my facial eczema flares....but the doc doesn't have a clue what. SO I am now seeking help from Eastern medicine. I am seeing a Chinese herbalist who has concocted a "tea" which I am drinking twice a day. I am told it takes about three months for it to build up in my system so I am drinking nasty tea and hoping that I am not on a wild goose chase. Hope your hands are better...I wore gloves as well for many years. I did find that soaking my hands in ice water helped to break the itch cycle that is SOOOOOOOOO frustrating.
